Flowers of Shakespeare by Doris Hunt - Pick Up Only
In this survey of flowers mentioned in the works of Shakespeare, the author has based her text on a remarkable collection of delicate 19th century colour engravings by an unknown artist which appeared in a book called The Flowers of Shakespeare.
It brings together many fascinating facts and ideas from amny sources including Gerards Herball and the Rev Henry Ellacombes book, The Plant Lore and Garden Craft of Shakespeare first published in 1878. A section of this book on the seasons of Shakespeare's plays and a list of all the plants and flowers mentioned is included after Doris Hunt's text.
